The Instituto Cervantes, in collaboration with the Embassy of Peru in Belgium, is hosting the pre-premiere of the documentary Le Condor, l'œil du monde (The Condor, the Eye of the World). This film takes us to the heart of the Peruvian Andes to uncover the story of the condor — a sacred bird and symbol of freedom. Through stunning imagery and real-life testimonies, the documentary highlights the threats facing this majestic species: habitat destruction, climate change, poisoning, and illegal hunting. But it is also a story of hope, where local communities, ancestral knowledge, and conservation efforts come together to protect not only the condor but also the soul of the Andes. A discussion with Julien Lesceux, who conceived the original idea for the documentary, will follow the screening.
