In this third concert of Boris Giltburg’s complete performance of Beethoven’s piano sonatas, one work takes center stage: the iconic “Moonlight Sonata.” Generations of listeners have been swept away by the mysterious atmosphere of the opening movement — and Giltburg’s interpretation promises to shed new light on it. Around this central work, he presents three other sonatas that make Beethoven’s development as a composer tangible: the energetic op. 10/2, the balanced op. 22, and the brilliant op. 2/3.
