Join us for an unforgettable recital celebrating the rich tapestry of 20th-century Russian music and the lyrical brilliance of a young Richard Strauss. London Symphony Orchestra’s principal cellist David Cohen opens with his own arrangement of Schnittke’s charming Suite in the Old Style, followed by Strauss’s passionate and virtuosic Cello Sonata in F major, a work of youthful exuberance and Romantic elegance. Shostakovich’s gripping Cello Sonata brings intensity and depth, showcasing his masterful blend of lyricism and dissonance. The programme closes with a delightful surprise—Rodion Shchedrin’s vibrant work In the Style of Albéniz, infusing Russian flair with Spanish passion.
